Day 1-7 Melbourne
Australia's second largest city and the capital of the south-eastern state of Victoria, Melbourne is located at the head of Port Phillip Bay. Often referred to as the cultural capital of Australia, because of its numerous art galleries, choral and opera productions, film festivals, orchestras, vibrant live music scene, and healthy food, wine, and coffee culture. Melbourne is exploding with Victorian-era architecture, famed cafés, great bars and restaurants, extensive shopping, galleries, theatres, museums, and large parks and gardens. It has nearly a population of 5-million residents who are both multicultural and sports-mad. Considering this the city has year-round festivals, sporting events and the best of Australian culture on display.Melbourne has been a host for an array of major international sporting events such as the Australian Open, Melbourne Cup Carnival and Formula 1 Grand Prix. Melbourne is famous for being capable of showing 'four seasons in one day' and has a temperate climate with distinct seasons and usually mild weather. You can decide when to visit Melbourne as per your ideal weather. It is the third-driest capital city in Australia with half of Sydney's rainfall (at 600mm) and is good to visit year-round. Days in Summer have an average high of 26°C, though days above 35°C occur sporadically as it is the warmest season with the lowest rainfall (and fewest rainy days). Autumn and Spring are similar temperatures, hovering around 21°C averages; however, there is an average of 11 days with rainfall for each of the Autumn months (March-May), compared to 14 days for each Spring month (Sep-Nov). These months usually help to prove the 'four seasons in one-day' reputation, as rainfall and sunshine interchange frequently. Winters can be cold with temperatures around 14°C and 15 days of rainfall.
Day 8-11 Sydney
Sydney has transformed itself from a British penal colony into a thriving cosmopolitan metropolis in the space of two centuries. Being a financial capital of the Asia-Pacific region, and an international tourist center with a population of close to four million, Sydney welcomes tourists with open arms. The largest city on the Australian continent, the capital of New South Wales, and one of the world's largest metropolitan areas is located near the southern end of Australia's eastern coast. The city's powerful feature has always been its stunning physical location on one of the world's most beautiful harbors. Sydney has primarily grown from an Anglo-Saxon enclave to a multiethnic city whose cultural sophistication is symbolized by the different outlines of its famous harbor-front opera house. The twenty-first century was led in dramatically with the 2000 Olympic Games, which spurred the city to reinvent itself yet again for a new millennium. Sydney has a vibrant cultural identity that includes its ancient and enduring Aboriginal inheritance, a history of openness and creativity, waves of immigration and strong civic and educational institutions. Sydney’s layered urban culture contains an unusual mix of contrasts and contradictions: nonchalance and ambition; scrappiness and restraint; imperial pomp and twentieth-century thrust; and both a proud parochialism and an eye to the world. Mix it all, and it is undeniably Sydney.
Day 12-14 Gold Coast
With its sub-tropical weather, relaxing atmosphere, crazy nightlife, and clean sandy beaches Gold Coast has come to become Australias favorite holiday destination. It has beautiful beaches encompassing almost the entire length of the coastline of the region which faces the gorgeous blue Pacific Ocean. The Gold Coast region is located 70kms south of Queensland’s capital city, Brisbane, and almost 1000km’s north of the capital of New South Wales, Sydney. You can find numerous adventure sports that include motorbike tours, parasailing, skydiving, hot air ballooning, jet skiing, power boating, helicopter tours, go karting, to name a few. If you aren't a sports person, you can opt for National Parks like Springbrook, Lamington, and Tamborine which feature World Heritage protected areas. Setup picnic in these beautiful sub-tropical rainforests or go for a long walk to become one with nature. Another option that will catch the attention of water babies explicitly is various water sports. Deep sea fishing charters are popular along with whale and dolphin watching tours. Other seafaring activities include fishing at the beach or along the riverways, swimming, skiing, diving, and snorkeling. The Gold Coast is also home to over 20 of Australia’s leading golf resorts with picturesque backdrops and meticulously manicured greens. Head to Gold Coast as its a place that offers something for everyone no matter what takes your fancy.
Day 15-17 Brisbane
Brisbane is the capital city of Queensland and is located on the Brisbane River on the eastern coast of Australia. With a resident population estimated to be just over 2 million (2010 estimate), it is the third largest city in Australia, behind Sydney and Melbourne. Brisbane is often viewed as a ‘big country town,’ but it has plenty of culture and activities to offer. Its ideally situated in amongst famous stretches of coastline, ancient rainforests, and beautiful country getaways. Brisbane enjoys a subtropical climate with hot, humid and rainy summers and cool to warm, dry winters often with clear blue skies and a little crisp in the mornings and evenings. Brisbane celebrates the beginning of spring with a month-long festival in September, called the Brisbane Festival. Have a blast for three weeks by taking all sorts of shows around the city, including the nightly laser show. The festival goes out with a bang at Riverfire, where hundreds of thousands of Brisbanites line the river to watch a spectacular 20-minute fireworks show. Not only does Brisbane have more to offer than you might think at first glance, but it’s in an area full of great spots just waiting to be explored
